On August 20, 2010 Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyy visited one of the largest plants in Lviv - OJSC "Lviv Locomotive Repair Plant" on 1a Zaliznychna Street. During this visit the Mayor examined the range of products and suggested to implement several joint projects. Namely, the project "Lviv tram" - the production of trams in Lviv. A working meeting concerning this issue will be held at the City Council next week. "The company is among five companies that pay the largest amount of taxes from wages, and it is the amount that goes to the local budget. It is important that one and a half thousand employees get stable salaries each month, have a stable job. The average wage at the plant is 2400 UAH. This is a serious company for our city", - said Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyy during his briefing.

It should be mentioned that Lviv Locomotive Repair Plant is one of the leading, strategic companies of the railway sector of Ukraine.

"At our plant we restore electric locomotives, we extend their service life period for another 10 years. These are the mainline electrics, we specialize in modernization and repair of mainline electric locomotives. Repairing of an electric locomotive lasts two months. The total amount of orders of our plant in 2010 is 240 million UAH.

All orders of the last year amounted to 90 million UAH. We move forward rather rapidly"- said Roman Yarema, Chairman of the Board of Lviv Locomotive Repair Plant.

OJSC "Lviv Locomotive Repair Plant" carries out works on repairing of railway rolling stock, manufacturing of DC and AC electric locomotives. The plant’s own products draw special attention - tooth gear casings, axle-box covers, compression piston rings, brasses for abutment motor bearings, metalware. The plant also provides a wide range of services. In particular, overhaul repair of electric locomotives, repair of wheelpairs, repair of electric motors, manufacturing of electrical equipment for electric locomotives, manufacturing of metalware and spare parts for electric locomotives, cleaning and paint-and-lacquer covering of spare parts, manufacturing of dies and moulds, transport services, it also provides products and spare parts from stock for sale.

Also the plant has different workshops: electric machines workshop with repair stations for traction engines and for sections of auxiliary electrical machines, wheel shop, electrical equipment shop with repair stations for electrical equipment and automatic brake mechanisms, workpiece shop with mechanical and forging stations, with a new laser complex, repair shop, tool shop.

In 2005 the plant was awarded the title "Best Employer of the Year for the Disabled" at the All-Ukrainian Competition "Best Employer of the Year".

In 2008 Lviv Locomotive Repair Plant became the winner of the competition "Face of the City” in the category "Industrial Lviv".
